Welcome to Casa Còra, on Via Ibla in the Santa Lucia quarter of Siracusa. We're delighted to host you in this sunny corner of Sicily, a short stroll from Ortigia and the sea.
The apartment sits on the first floor of a quiet residential block, with free parking inside the courtyard — a rare thing in Siracusa in summer, and one less worry on the day you arrive.

Where exactly is Casa Còra?
Casa Còra is at Via Ibla 1, 96100 Siracusa, in the Borgata by Santa Lucia, on the east coast of Sicily. It is a first-floor apartment let as a whole unit, with the Santa Lucia seafront round the corner and Ortigia about fifteen minutes away on foot.
How far is Ortigia?
About fifteen minutes on foot: you cross the bridge and you are on the island. Piazza Duomo, at the far end of Ortigia, is 23 minutes from the front door.
Is there parking?
Yes — free parking in the condominium courtyard, included with the apartment. It is a private courtyard, so there is no hunting for a space in the street and no going near Ortigia's restricted-traffic zone.
How does check-in work?
Check-in is self check-in: you let yourselves in through the archway on the corner of Via Gaetano Fuggetta and Via Cuma, at whatever hour you arrive. We send the arrival instructions privately before you travel, so nobody has to wait around for a key handover.
How far is Catania airport?
Catania Fontanarossa is about an hour away by car, and it is the airport nearly everyone flies into. If you would rather not drive, the airport coach stops on Corso Umberto I, 18 minutes' walk from the house, and Siracusa railway station is about fifteen minutes away.
Can you walk to restaurants and to the sea?
Yes, to nearly all of it: 41 of the places in this guide are within a walk. The sea is 2 minutes away, the bakery 1 minute, Meditè 4, the little harbour 3, and the trattorie of Ortigia are fifteen to twenty-five. The car is for day trips, not for the day.
Which beaches are nearby?
The nearest swimming is right outside the door: the sea at Santa Lucia, 2 minutes away, with a decked solarium and steps into deep water on one side and a small sandy beach on the other, public shower included. For a proper stretch of sand, Spiaggia del Minareto is 15 minutes by car and Punta della Mola in the Plemmirio reserve 18.
Is there anything to see right by the house?
Yes: Caravaggio's Burial of Saint Lucy hangs in the Basilica of Santa Lucia al Sepolcro, 4 minutes' walk away. This is the saint's own quarter, and the painting is still in the church it was made for.
